People navigating Pre-Pregnancy, Pregnancy and Postpartum

After becoming a parent myself and experiencing all the related challenges, I chose to pursue perinatal and postpartum specific training to further my expertise in this area. We might be a good fit if you find yourself struggling to decide when or how to become a parent, struggling with the postpartum “who am I?”, find yourself experiencing intrusive or alarming thoughts, or find yourself feeling isolated or alone in your parenting experience. Maybe you find yourself surprised by or ashamed of your emotions and behavior in this life season. Or maybe you had a traumatic pregnancy, birth, or lactation experience. I use a combination of psychoeducation, mindfulness and body-awareness, and trauma-focused therapeutic modalities to help folks adjust to their role as parents.

I provide services to people navigating pregnancy loss and infertility. I also have a certification in perinatal mental health (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International.

Parents who want to do things Differently

What does it mean to “do things differently?” Perhaps you want to parent differently than how you were parented. Perhaps you want to, or have to, parent differently than the American cultural norm. Perhaps you simply want to parent differently than you have been parenting. I help folks determine what their parenting values are, build awareness about what might be getting in the way of parenting in accordance with those values, and shift into new patterns and behaviors.

People navigating Life transitions

Big life changes can feel very overwhelming. Whether it’s moving away from home, navigating a new job, the beginning or end of a relationship, or becoming a parent (or becoming a parent again), I can help. Together, we can determine how you can get clear on your goals and values, communicate with your people, and figure out how to take care of yourself in your new life season.

People experincing Anxiety, depression and trauma

Folks with anxiety, depression or trauma symptoms often find themselves feeling hopeless, overwhelmed, excessively worried. They might find themselves withdrawing or isolating from others. They also might find themselves feeling angry, or numb, or guilty/shameful. If this is you, you might not feel entitled to your feelings, or you might be so used to feeling these things that you think nothing can be done. I’ve spent most of my career as a therapist working with folks with anxiety and trauma, and I’m here for you!

I provide individual therapy sessions to folks over the age of 18. I do not provide therapy to minors, couples or families.

I am proud to serve folks of all cultures, races, spiritualities, genders, sexual orientations and professions, and I am a sex-positive, body- and fat-positive provider. As a cis, white, straight-sized person, I understand your experiences might be different than mine and I am committed to making space for conversations about how that impacts your sense of safety with me, in therapy and in the world.

I draw from a few different schools of practice, all with a client-centered focus. My goal is to help you feel safe, supported and seen. I often integrate elements of the following into sessions:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Mindfulness and Embodiment practices

  • Self-Compassion practices

  • Social justice theory

  • Polyvagal Theory
